One of the primary goals of the MS Office of Homeland Security is to educate, train and equip emergency responders for possible disasters such as: (CBRNE) Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosive, as well as disasters occuring naturally including: hurricanes, earthquakes, floods and viruses. To this end, MOHS works tirelessly with emergency response agencies to make training opportunities available throughout the state.
Additionally, MOHS trains and equips community volunteers so they can take care of themselves, their families and communities should help not be readily available. Examples include the MS Citizen Corps (CCP), MS Youth Preparedness Initiative (MyPI) and Community Emergency Response Teams. For more information on community training please click on the "Citizen Info" tab of this website.
MOHS has partnered with a number of state and federal agencies to host training opportunities across the state.
